Thread: If Jesus was literate, why didn't he write?

ptet:

We've already established that the majority of modern Bible
scholars date the Gospel according to Mark to around 70 CE.

We've also established that you refuse to get more specific than
"around". It's obvious why. Committing to something more exact
would pull your teeth.

I didn't ask for a debate with you, Mr Holding, and I see
no need for one now.

Yep..when it comes to actually defending himself and his
positions, this guy is nothing but a

Good for a laugh.

I don't think that's meant to be a compliment ;>
See Tim's Fundamental Corner website ...
He describes himself as a "Bible-believing, KJV 1611-only,
premillenial, pre-tribulation rapture, soul-winning,
separated Independent Fundamental Baptist"

I really admire your erudition and writing.

I have long wondered just how so many people became so
convinced in such patently false notions as religion. I
have looked into such mind altering techniques as hypnosis,
childhood indoctrination and life threatening close calls,
and find some validity to all of them. While I realize that
religious belief is purely emotional, I have long wondered
why the conviction runs so deep and seems so intractible.
While I assume it is not an original idea, this evening it
just occurred to me that most religious awakening or"faith"
is like falling in love; it knows no reason nor rationality,
but to the victim it seems eminently reasonable, rational
and realistic. And of course, it drives him, in varying
degrees, to the same sort of expression as a love stricken
swain might make in shouting his love to the world.

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for terrible consequences
so often suffered by the rest of us.

Anyhow, keep up the good work.

Carl

Dear PTET,

I hope you don't mind my writing to you? My name is
Roger Pearse, editor of the Tertullian Project, and
author of a few incidental pages on details of antiquity
to which you refer. An online contact drew my attention
to your pages.

I was interested to see that you had read my comments with
attention - rare among atheist sites. May I say how grateful
I am that you discussed the points at issue without
personalities. Would you mind if I comment on a couple
of points?

============================================================
Mr Pearse then provided a number of extremely helpful and
interesting clarifications and comments, which I have
endeavoured to incorporate into my pages...
============================================================

Enough nit-picking. I did appreciate the tone of your pages,
even if I disagree with many of them, and I hope my notes have
been useful.

All the best,

Roger Pearse

You weren't an English major were you? For example at

PROOF read

Ipazia's Law: "Remember that you can't win if your

Me thinks you need an EDJAKATION.

As far as Ipazia's 'Law' goes, this is a statement
you will probably frequently use whenever people don't
glibly swallow your hogwash. Just a whole lot of crying'
and whining' when people don't just 'see it your way.'

If you have something to prove, go to www.tektonics.org,
take the CHICKEN CHALLENGE and get an education. I'll be
waiting to see your challenge on Holding's web site.

Ps... If you're going to publish this e-mail on your web
site, YOU WILL publish it in its entirety or not publish
it at all.

After sending me this mail, Mr X and I got into a
pleasant discussion on some of the issues discussed
in my pages... See? We can all get on after all :-)
